Karen Garner and Reggie Garner, Jr. are the owners of Magnolia Homes. Karen’s grandson/Reggie’s son, Greer, is very excited that Magnolia Homes is involved in this project. Greer, at four years old, has watched a fire station being built near the Magnolia office. So when asked what type of playhouse should be built, without hesitation, Greer said a firehouse with a pole, and his brother, Shafer, agreed. The Hobbit House by Salvaggio Group

Volunteers – Thanks to the entire Salvaggio Group team, including all the Salvaggio kids for their part in the design and construction!
Michael Walker (WalkerArch) conducted a design meeting with the Salvaggio kids. Collectively, everyone decided to create a Hobbit Cottage, one you may happen upon on a stroll through a mythological forest. The cottage facade uses the wood and limbs of a Cedar tree taken down for a future Salvaggio Group construction project. Texture was applied to simulate mud walls and the roof uses hay to replicate a Thatch roof. The base has been woven with limbs to give a “birds nest” appearance. During the design exercise, the children stressed the importance of having two balconies. Multiple books were read on these balconies during construction. We hope your kids will love this cottage designed by our kids!

Combining the creativity of Lavelle Walker with the craftsmanship of Tommy Young Construction and Cura Framing, this team has delivered a playhouse that captures the flavor of Memphis with our very own FedEx Forum. Excitement is created for youngsters dreaming of becoming basketball stars. Imaginations flow with energy as you open the doors to the miniature basketball court designed to replicate the basketball floor of the Memphis Grizzlies. An acrylic dome roof, crafted by Plastico of Memphis, allows natural light to flow onto the court illuminating the decals and artwork provided by LSI and the Memphis Grizzlies staff. We look forward to capturing the hearts of our young athletes while raising awareness for JDRF. We hope you enjoy “shooting some hoops”!
